Suggested Claude Mobile App Improvements for Casual Users
This user persona isn’t too “AI savvy” with prompts, tools, but instead looking for quick conversations and responses. The goal should be to reduce friction and enable as much seamless conversations as possible!
1. Faster ways to kickstart conversations with Claude mobile app
- Home screen quick action with 3D touch: “start a new chat”, “voice mode”
- Spotlight search shortcuts to quickly start conversations
- Interactive widgets (Home & Lock screen, Control Centre shortcuts)
1.1 Home Screen Quick Action Current Implementation
Improvement
Including “Start New Chat”, “Voice Mode”, “Continue in Recent project” options to quickly start conversations
1.2 Spotlight Search Shortcuts
Current:
Improvement:
Spotlight search shortcuts for Ask Claude, Start a New Chat, etc
2. Enabling Seamless Conversations
2.1 Auto-Switching Models & Chats After Hitting Limits
- Allow users to have longer conversations without hitting limits by auto-switching to new model or a new chat but “carrying the current context”
- Users can manually switch to other models by clicking on the title bar
Currently, the title bar in Claude mobile app is broken completely. Clicking on it gives “Rename” vs all options with model switcher. Claude should fix title menu in iOS app: allow users to switch models with a tap, rename, etc
2.2 Prompt Enhancer
Most users don’t write detailed prompts out of lack of knowledge on why prompts differ from “typical search queries” or lack of awareness around techniques to write better prompts or just too much typing & cognitive load. For them there should be a prompt enhancer: User writes → Claude understands intent → Enhances prompt
2.3 Add an Existing Conversation to Project
Allow users to map existing conversations to a project. That way they don’t take the cognitive load upfront but later on if they realize it belongs to project let it be. Once added, index the current chat, add any files referred to project store.
For some reason Claude allows new conversation to add to a project but not an existing conversation.
3. Information Hierarchy & Workflow Improvements
3.1 Home Page Improvements
Home page should not just show “Projects” as Casual users typically have chats/conversations. Rather, taking cues from web app, show “Recent Chats” and sections for “Chats”, and “projects” (if any).
Current:
Improvement:
Show search to filter to right conversation, recent chats to continue conversations and Chats, Projects section to go through list in case user needs.
